That is why LinkedIn is used by millions of professionals and businessmen around the globe. Companies usually direct their workers to create accounts over this free social networking site so they can immediately connect with prospective clients. But with so many professionals and entrepreneurs in the world competing for clients using the same platform (i.e. LinkedIn), one can feel clogged up if one joins LinkedIn for the first time. So here are a few tips on how to accelerate your business with the help of LinkedIn:

Find upcoming fund raising events in your area. The good news about LinkedIn is that it is localize. That means one can easily find out fundraising events in your area and immediately link your business page to the page set up by the fund raising organizers over LinkedIn. In that way, you can easily build your social network in the real world.

Use the groups feature to promote your cause. The good news is that despite it being a free website, LinkedIn spoonfeeds to its users. You can easily optimize your business site by using the groups feature in LinkedIn. You can either search for groups or create one so that prospective customers themselves will hunt down and search the products and services that you are offering.

Answer someone’s question. Don’t take it as spamming. And most importantly, don’t spam. Spam is a bad habit. Answer questions individually, not machine-generated ones. Obviously, the purpose of answering questions is to maximize your social network as more and more prospective customers can see the link of your website when you answer a particular question. And when you do answer a question, give your best shot and don’t blabber so that potential customers will be impressed.

Now a day Facebook is an outstanding example. You can create a Facebook Business Page or group that executes a variety of tasks for you. Some of these airlines only offer domestic flights within the United States but most of them offer inter-Atlantic flights such as the Southwest Airlines flights.

This line of thinking seems to be fading right now since Facetime’s survey has revealed that social networking has other relevance especially to working people.

According to those surveyed, social networks are useful tools in the business world and the IT professional who were polled are all right with people accessing social networking sites at work more than ever. Forty-six percent of IT professionals viewed social networks as having business value. However, not all social networks in the sphere are acceptable in the workplace since 74% of those surveyed said Second Life has no business value at all.

Then what specific web services are okay in the workplace according to the study? The top replies included LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. These sites are useful in building networks with professionals in the same or different fields, allow sharing of links to business websites, encourage interaction among its members and groups, and so much more!

If 46% find social networks as okay to be accessed at work, 43% think otherwise. Those who think that social networks should not be accessed at work think that Web 2.0 tools should only be accessed if they can be secured and controlled. No one can be so sure that vital company info cannot be hacked through social networking sites.

The bottom line is this: those in the IT world are well aware that their workers are accessing social networks in the workplace and some admit to doing it themselves; they are only worried that company secrets and proprietary information might leak along the way. This conclusion expands the market for tool that will help companies enable their workers to connect and share information to be able to do their jobs better, without selling out along the way by leaking intellectual property onto the social web.

Do you find social networks useful for you and your companies? Do you think it is all right to access social networks at the workplace? Share your insights with us!

Most of the job hunters, professional businessmen, SEO professionals, Web Content Writers and more are mostly found here exchanging business ideas and looking for jobs. But some of these people commit common mistakes in their LinkedIn profiles that would give them new opportunities. Jason Alba—a CEO of the JibberJobber Company have currently released a DVD which is called LinkedIn for Job Seekers showcasing the five common mistakes that is commonly found on the LinkedIn Profiles.

1.	Use a genuine picture—never put a picture in your avatar with different scenery background. According to Alba, if you are a job hunter you better use a professional headshot for your LinkedIn avatar. Some LinkedIn users are putting pictures who were not theirs, so avoid this and as much as possible use your genuine photo.

2.	In your headline, write professional and descriptive title—don’t just put a title beneath your name. Write something that catches the interest of the readers. Don’t just put the title of your previous work, but instead specify what really your previous work was all about.

3. LinkedIn gives you the opportunity to post all the websites you are currently working or your work might be displayed. Though this is a great selection Alba said that when you go to edit website you should have to go to the websites section and click the “other” selection. After that insert the link and say something about it.

4.	LinkedIn usually give you a default url for your profile. If you haven’t change your default url, it would look ugly because of the various numbers and codes that would appear in your LinkedIn address. If you want to see your profile neat and presentable, you should have to go to edit your LinkedIn profile and head to the public profile for you to make your own LinkedIn url.

5.	And lastly, in LinkedIn’s summary section, you are given a 2000 character limit for you to say something about yourself. Take this opportunity to say something about you, your skills, abilities and experience. Make it direct and SEO friendly.

But, unfortunately several people still commit common errors especially in their LinkedIn profiles according to Jason Alba who is the current CEO of JibberJobber which is a provider company for web based tools in order to manage job search. Alba shared some aspects or even spots the trouble in the users profile and how to fix it.
1. Uploading user’s photos.
Several users are not uploading photos or picture in their profiles in LinkeIn but its really a mistake not do so. According to Alba, the inclusion of photos or user photo in the LinkedIn profile will make it more personable. Aside of that, Alba suggested that its more better to upload a photos that are headshot and the most recent photos of itself in order to keep the other user the appearance of the person.
2. Writing a descriptive professional headline
Most of the people commit mistakes upon writing their professional headline that usually been located right beneath in their name. The common mistakes that been committed is just to simply put the name and the title without using some words that can catch the attention of other people. Its more better to write it in a specific manager such as “I manage a complex projects that involves IT and marketing strategies” rather than saying as a “project manager for the M company”. Since, using a catching descriptive headline will be a great support in managing its profile for its career success.
3. Proper label of websites that displays its work or blog.
LinkedIn offers users the ability to list its websites or blog that are quite in line with its work. Alba recommends some aspects upon writing and presenting its blog or website in LinkedIn in a more complex manner. Definitely a NO! Though, I would be referring to President Obama’s success in his powerful use of Web 2.0. This article would definitely talk about on how social media can help YOU in this plummeting economy.

An article titled, “How Social Media Helped Barack Obama to Become the Most Powerful Man”, gave a blow by blow account of how the President embraces Social Media and use it to reach out and be heard by the people. Some of the stories of how Obama camgpaign affected so many people, brought tears to my eyes; there are just so many untold and heroic stories all because of President Obama through social networks.

But my question is: Could social media help an ordinary user like me or YOU? The answer is: Yes, the social networks that we are an active member can help us in some ways to either get hired or just be heard.

Though before our families in these social networks can help us; they need to know what happen to us. We need to advertise ourselves in these social networks.

Here are some suggestions on how social media can help me and YOU.

Join social networks like Linked In, Facebook, Myspace, Ning, and twitter.

Fill in your profile in these networks. Beforehand, you got to be a visible member of these social networks.

As you join Linked In, ask your contacts to recommend you. And participate in the Question and Answer so that your expertise can be known.

Connect or bond with your twitter friends and families in your local area. To have so many friends means so many news bearer of Jobs Vacancy in your local area. The story of chrisbrogan@twitter is such an inspiring one. He lost a job and was hired by a family on twitter.

I really got a bleak feeling that thousands I wish not millions of people would be jobless for the next few months. Yet, my next hope would be- that these people would know how to advertise themselves to the World Wide Web so that employers can get hold of quality manpower all over the world.

It is founded last December 2002 and launched last May 2003. It is one of the top in social media, with an alexa rank of 216 and a Page Rank of 8.

The purpose of LinkedIn is to allow all registered users to maintain their contact details, as well as the contact details of the people they trust and know in the business. So this means that you will have lots of connections and it’s up to you whether you add them or invite your friends to become part of you contact lists.

This is in short a list of connections that can be utilized in so many purposes.

• Build direct connections. You can use it to create positive introduction to someone you know or you wish to make as a trusted contact.

• Search people and business opportunities recommended by the people in your contact list.

• Make a list of job offers and the potential candidates for the designated jobs.

It is of utmost necessity to build trust with your contacts.

If we have yahoo answers and google answers, there is also LinkedIn Answers which allows you to ask questions and the community will give you the answers you might be looking for. This is also free, but the differences it has between yahoo answers and google answers is that, the questions commonly adhered to, are more business oriented.
