Social Media is one of the forms of online marketing and is effective when it comes to advertising for the company’s services, management and so on. It makes word of mouth not that efficient anymore when it comes to marketing strategies. There are lots of reasons why social media marketing is more effective, though you can trust and believe those you know when they say advertise about something yet not everybody is whom you know and you trust. Word of mouth is mostly the strategy to most companies and that was when social media and other online marketing strategies didn’t exist. Here are some of the reasons why word of mouth is not that effective and not dependable anymore when it comes to marketing.

First, it is biased. Word of mouth is subjective, when it comes to quality, services and demonstrations about the business, usually the recommendations that you receive are simply subjective and are not that consistent, it is not accompanied with aims and official measures when it comes to the companies’ quality, capabilities, services, management and et cetera.

Second, it is limited, in the sense that it is difficult to widen and reach a huge players in the corporate world. Word of mouth is of affiliation marketing, you work with the people you know, and who they know and that’s about it. When it comes to social media marketing, you can reach globally by just doing online marketing, it could get to any parts of the world and so on.

Third, it is restricted when it comes to reaching to potential customers and to the industry. It is difficult to reach especially to potential customers; they may not know any context about the company and the recent competencies and many others.
