As internet grows larger than life, surfers were bored with the traditional social network sites. Surfers demands social media that is more exciting, entertaining, informative and interactive in a different approach. Well thanks to the three ex-employees of Paypal they come up with an idea to make a social media with a twist and a brand new flavor. And Youtube was born, it’s a social media were you can share your videos in the net.

The power of social media on YouTube is to be recon with. It is the most visited social media site as of today. As time goes by, surfers can’t resist the persuasion of Youtube. It lures surfers to visit the site. The company revealed that over 100 million videos are watched every day and 70,000 videos are uploaded a day respectively. And as of January 2008 alone, nearly 79 million users had made over 3 billion views of videos.

The basic features on YouTube:

Videos – this feature is probably the reason why millions of people visit the web. It is categorized by Autos & Vehicles, Comedy, Education, Entertainment, Film & Animation, Gaming, Howto & Style, Music, News & Politics, Nonprofits & Activism, People & Blogs, Pets & Animals, Science & Technology, Sports, Travel & Events. Each category is sorted in Featured, Rising Videos, Most Discussed, Most Recent, Most Responded, Most Viewed, Top Favorites and Top Rated. You can also post comments on the videos that you’ve watch.

Channel – the channel is the user’s video playlists that you subscribe.

Community – Is a group of registered YouTube users that share a common interest. It is sorted on groups, contests, blog, testube, youtube handbook and forums.

Search Engine – the most important tool on YouTube. It is to search a particular video or channel faster and easier.

Social Media today is very essential in our life in cyberspace. And with the evolution of it with video sharing, the endless possibility of social media is within our reach.
