Since there are so many interesting things about social media and there is so much to write about it, I have had a hard time thinking of what to write. I did a search and I came across this article about social media tools and there were some tips about how to make the most out of one’s social life on the web.

Here are the tips and let me share them with you:

• Use a good avatar. Yes you read that right. Get a good avatar because it is easier to remember a picture than words. Avatars can help you create your social identity that is why it is popular with the social crowd. Some of the most recommended avatars include a clear photo of yourself, the logo of your site or company, or any image that can be easily identified. Better choose an avatar which makes a mark and helps identify people that it is really you.

• Be consistent with your identity. It is practical to have one identity for your business site and another for your personal or niche site but it is not necessary to have different user names for let’s say, 6 different sites. It is better that you use a single name and define your personal brand so that your friends and other people can find you easily in other sites.

• Don’t spread yourself too thin! There are so many existing social media sites and the numbers are growing daily, this is the reality: you just can’t be everywhere! Just pick a few sites which provide you with value such as the ones where your peers are, and establish yourself there.

• Be active. Once you have found the social media sites you want and where you want to build your social presence, better be active in them! Introduce yourself, make friends, create and vote for articles or polls, share links, and do so much more since there are practically no limitations!

Ponder on those tips and apply them as you go about in the social media world and you will surely be able to socialize with more people in a breeze!
