Social Networking has big roles in Metro Manila floods

It is a saddened news about the disaster happened in Metro Manila Philippines.  The tropical storm called “Ondoy” (Ketsana) has destructed millions of resident’s houses due to massive floods.  Since not all parts of the city have been flooded, some of the residents in Metro Manila as well as all the people of the Philippines are reaching their help through social networking.  One of the famous social networking sites Facebook has been used by thousands of users asking other Facebook users to help and donate something through updating their statuses.

Some other users are posted about the locations of other flood victims who are waiting to be rescued.  The other resident of Metro Manila named Carmela Almonte is using Facebook to offer her help as a switchboard operator to her friends who do not have signal on their cell phones.  Since the signal of cell phones and any other communication lines had been down, they are using Facebook to inform families, friends and love ones.

Aside from Facebook, tweetfeed.com also contributes big help to those flood victims.  It is because the social networking site has been used by the bloggers through the dicussion thread.  If there are no social networking sites like Facebook, tweetfeed, twitter and more it would be hard for the residents and rescuers to hold hand and help each other to survive.
