Faze two of Internet Processing
The internet is one great tool for communication, information, business and even in politics. Most preferably 70% of the users in the world rely on the workable process of the internet. What could you ask for more from easy labor, easy money on a speedy process?
It is a horrible feature however, of the internet to be vulnerable to fraud, prank and to several illegal internet access processes. Lately, there has been a great threat for a micro-blogging site, Twitter, as documented by the CNN news. There are several types of this malware that are designed to infiltrate social networking accounts for information. The attacks where done by hackers and it’s important to understand some statistics about website hacking. More or less 40% of website hacking is done not for ideological purposes or even just for leisure, but rather for profit. People hack websites today in order to gather information they intend to use for nefarious purposes and for their own financial gain. A great example is that some websites store a large amount of personal data, from name and address information to credit card information and probably purchase history on the site. This means great danger to the internet society and it has gone long before several advancements of computer systems. This had started with viruses which can automatically infect the computer system through the internet without interaction with the user and the software.
There are several hacking activities traced by users in different areas of networking. However, there are on the other side, reasons that had made these hackers freemen and without penalties. Below are some, based on the Computer hacking statistics:
1. Only 17% of companies whose computers were hacked report them to law enforcement due to fear of negative publicity.
2. 90% of Fortune 500 networks have been hacked. In Canada Internet hacking has doubled to 8% in 1998 over a period of just one year, if this trend continues then it must now be around 32%. This only includes reported computer hacking trends, therefore it certainly would be much higher.
3. 58% of companies have detected outsiders trying to gain computer access, and 30% don’t know if there have been any attempts from outsiders.
4. Department of Defense Computer Systems – there have been approximately 250, 000 attempts to break into the Government systems in 1995 of which 65% were successful.
5. In 1998 the Financial Cost to computer security breaches was reported for the 163 companies at $123.7 Million. (1999 CSI/FBI Report.)
6. 70% of web sites have security flaws.
Several internet security systems have been always on the alert for the attacks that the hackers may work on for damage. It is only an arbitrary however, that the users should look after since the primary precaution must be done by the users their selves. Computer experts have given advices:
How to protect yourself against scams:
