It’s a known fact that the world has influenced a drastic change in the past century than in any recorded time and the reason is primarily technological. The convergence of inventions that made data transmission whether by print, sound, image, or by network, easier has become the single most significant double-edged technological advance. The ability to be contacted and be informed through various tools is a great competitive advantage but on the other hand, the pressure of processing an even bigger volume of information is creating unwanted stress and for some, a certain paranoia.

A good beginning is to understand that our information dissemination systems are increasingly efficient tools, hence the information cycle is an even faster loop. It is however, no technological master with a value system. As such, e-commerce shares the same space with social media sites and book marking sites.

The best upside to this scenario is that now we have an even bigger menu that offers option to make our work more efficient or to make our independent interests transpire the way we envision it. The responsibility we have is to consciously plan and evaluate the information we receive and acquire; its nature, its scope and degree and its extent of usefulness to us. The main objective is to use the information to create value in our lives, from increasing work productivity to meeting justly our ends.

Technological advances may be moving at breakneck speed. But the responsibility of determining direction and choosing the tools that will best achieve the objective remains an enduring individual’s obligation
